Pro-Hormone Supplement Reviews
Pro-hormones are hormonal substance that when taken get converted into
anabolic hormones by the body's natural enzymatic process. They are not
considered steroids because they are only converted into the active form in our
body, whereas steroids do not have to be converted in order to be active.
How do they work?
Pro-hormones work by increasing the level of anabolic hormones in our body. This
then stimulates androgen receptors and allows a person to build size and gain
strength, They also signal more nutrients to be used in building muscle, while less
are available for fat storage,
Is taking more better?
Taking a higher dosage of pro-hormones is not going to make work body produce
more anabolic hormones. The reason is there is a natural limit on the number of
enzymatic reaction that can occur in our body. This limits how much muscle a
person can gain, but also limits the harmful side effects.
What are the different types of pro-hormones?
- 4 Androstenedione (Andro): is a pro-hormone that became famous
because in 1998 Mark McGuire said he had used it. Andro get converted
directly to testosterone at a conversion rate of about 5.6%. Andro has a very
high rate of amortization to estrogen and side effects such as gynecomastia
(breasts), male pattern baldness, acne and risk of having an enlarged
prostate.
- 4 Androstenediol (4-AD): is another pro-hormone that gets converted to
testosterone. Unlike Andro, 4-AD does not get directly converted to
estrogen. Also, the conversion rate is almost 3 times higher than with Andro
at 15.76%.
- 1 Androstenediol (1-AD) : unlike the previous 2 pro-hormones, 1-AD gets
converted to 1-testosterone, which is a 5- alpha steroid reported to be 700%
more anabolic and 200% more androgenic than testosterone. 1-AD has the
highest conversion rate and can not be directly or through any metabolic
channels be converted to estrogen. Side effects include baldness, testicular
shrinkage, enlarged prostate and acne.
How long should pro-hormones be taken for?
Pro-hormones should be cycled with a max of 10 weeks on. Most people should
only do 8 weeks on and 8 weeks off.
Note: On January 20, 2005, prohormones in the US were officially banned as a result of the Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 2004. This was an act which was signed into law on October 22, 2004 (to be effective 90 days later) and, with regards to prohormones, trumped the Dietary Supplement Health and Regulation Act (DSHEA) of 1994 which is what allowed their legal manufacturing and distribution. This means that the distribution, sale and even possession of prohormones (andro) is now a punishable crime. They are now controlled substances. So, be careful if you have some.
